The 1908 John C. Brown Law Office Building

 110 North Second Street has had many incarnations. Most notably the building served as the office of Governor John C. Brown and the partners of his law firm in 1871. Prior to that (1835-1867) the building served as the Planter Bank of Tennessee, and a grocery and produce store (1869-1871). After Gov. Brown and his partners moved the law practice, the building was occupied by a furniture store, and an undertaking firm (1878-1887), a jewelry store, and optics center during the early 1900’s and became a bottling works for the Coca Cola Company in 1910. Since then, the building has served as a National Guard Armory, flooring store, trophy shop, and several other businesses.  It is now home to The Giles County Chamber of Commerce.
